A leading apparel brand was struggling to meet their double digit growth due to constrained DC output. They had nowhere to expand and needed both a short and long-term solution. To solve the short term problem, Fortna helped them implement a DC Bypass process that bought the company time to build a distribution center with greater flexibility for future growth and expansion. To support the long-term growth requirements, Fortna helped design and build a new 520,000 square foot DC. As a result they have seen a 32% increase in productivity, order process time decreased by 70% and a 65% decrease in their overtime. The new DC has the capacity to process twice its current volume without a significant increase in labor or operating costs.
Fortna helped a large pharmaceutical company consolidate two of its DCs into a single DC, serving 30 forward DCs as well as direct customers. Cost per case decreased by 25%, and throughput improved by 220%.
A retailer operating multiple DCs was struggling to meet store and eCommerce growth projections. The overlapping facilities caused inefficiencies, especially in overhead and inventory.
