The FORTNA Dual 6-Axis Sortation Solution is an automated pick-and-place robotic solution for parcel and distribution centres that streamlines package bulk flow. Integrating two FANUC articulating robotic arms with vacuum end-of-arm tooling, the Dual 6-Axis solution can identify, handle and singulate a wide range of packaging, including polybags, bubble packs, mailers and traditional shipping boxes.

Proprietary vision system paired with artificial intelligence (AI)

Paired with the FORTNA proprietary vision system, the dual FANUC robots select the package, orients it, and places it to be merged onto an induction line. Utilising a parallelised architecture, the FORTNA Dual 6-Axis Sortation Solution is compatible with upstream and downstream automation. The solution also employs a unique exception detection system and autonomous recovery process; using machine learning, the robots can recognise a package exception, reset itself and restart the sorting process. The result is less human intervention needed and reduced downtime.
