Fortna Announces Acquisition of Pierau Planung

READING, PA – January 21, 2020 – Fortna®, The Distribution Experts®, a leading global automation, engineering services and software company, today announced that it has acquired Pierau Unternehmensberatung GmbH (“Pierau Planung”), a European-based, market leader in supply chain and logistics design, consulting, and project management. Pierau Planung’s management team will join Fortna following the transaction and continue serving its European region. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

By acquiring Pierau Planung, Fortna will further build upon its European presence and gain greater capacity across its footprint to better service its growing client base internationally. Fortna will leverage Pierau Planung’s deep industry expertise, robust client base, and outstanding team of seasoned supply chain and logistics experts to further accelerate its overall growth strategy. The combined entity will unlock exciting new opportunities for clients of both companies to enhance and innovate their distribution operations.

Matthew S. Harrison Joins Fortna as Chief Financial Officer

Harrison brings 25+ years of finance, accounting and leadership experience

READING, PA (January 14, 2020) – Fortna®, The Distribution Experts®, a leading global automation, engineering services and software company, announced today that Matthew S. Harrison has joined as Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Barry Malamud who is retiring.  Matt will manage Fortna’s full scope of domestic and global financial operations and become a key member of Fortna’s senior executive team responsible for driving sustainable, strategic revenue and profit growth.

Prior to joining Fortna, Matt was executive vice president and CFO at Summit Midstream Partners, LP (NYSE: SMLP), a provider of crude oil and natural gas gathering and processing services, where he managed over 20X EBITDA growth attributable to a combination of acquisitions and organic expansion. His 25 years of experience also includes executive financial leadership roles at firms including Hiland Partners, LP (Nasdaq: HLND), Wachovia Capital Markets and Price Waterhouse. He earned a CPA from the State of Georgia, a BS in Accounting from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

Increases labor productivity and unit throughput with dynamic and continuous picking algorithms

READING, PA (January 6, 2020) – Fortna®, The Distribution Experts®, announced today the next generation release of its warehouse execution software platform, FortnaWES™ 2020 R1.  Continuing its tradition of providing clients with a scalable, modular and flexible approach to solution design, this new release optimizes advanced algorithms for dynamic picking and further supports labor-enhancing technologies such as AS/RS, Goods to Person and Autonomous Mobile Robots.

New order fulfillment functionality includes enhanced capability on the picking side to perform dynamic and continuous picking using carts for each picking and mobile picking from reserve. There is new e-commerce packing functionality to support continuous flow and optimize the packing processes.  Additionally, Fortna’s Command Center™ WES management console features a next generation UI for increased supervisory visibility into highly automated systems with advanced dashboards and controls.
