Big 5 Sporting Goods is one of America's top retailers of name brand sporting goods and accessories with 298 stores spread throughout 10 western states. They provide a full-line product offering in a traditional sporting goods store format that averages approximately 11,000 square feet. Their product mix includes athletic shoes, apparel and accessories, as well as a broad selection of outdoor and athletic equipment for team sports, fitness, camping, hunting, fishing, tennis, golf, snowboarding and in-line skating.

Big 5 was challenged with addressing dramatic store growth and designing a new greenfield facility to meet those increased facility and systems needs.  A team from Fortna/Q4 was selected to design their new one million square foot distribution center in Riverside, CA and oufit it with advanced materials handling and information systems.  The project included the selection and implementation of a WMS, and slotting and management reporting systems for the new facility.
