Shimano is an internationally-known manufacturer and distributor of high quality bicycle components and fishing gear. 

Due to company growth and enhanced customer service requirements, Shimano wanted to analyze their supply chain and create a roadmap to grow into the future.  A Fortna/Q4 team was engaged to provide supply chain network analysis, identify areas for improvement and to create an operational design to best serve their clients across the US.  The team also worked with Shimano to define the business requirements of moving from one national facility to two locations. 

After balancing transportation costs with customer service needs, a new east coast distribution center was designed that deployed new inventory models, and used new, cost-effective transportation lanes, services and contracts.  The team created a changed organization to sustain and improve the new operation and allowed the company to better serve their customers even with higher volumes and new SKUs.
