Dick’s Sporting Goods operates nearly 300 retail stores that carry high-quality sporting goods and athletic apparel and gear.  Due to the acquisition of a competitor, they expanded geographically and acquired a second distribution center with its redundant systems.
 
Fortna/Q4 was engaged to assist Dick’s Sporting Goods with establishing a platform for future growth at their 2 facilities by designing and implementing new cohesive processes, systems, operations and organizations.  Our team led the effort to convert an existing legacy WMS with a new best of breed supply chain execution system, integrated materials handling equipment with the new WMS, and designed and implemented that system’s transportation and labor management module.  Extensive training efforts were also completed as part of their comprehensive transition management program.

Dick’s Sporting Goods is now able to capitalize on vendor compliance efforts as their 2 sites utilize the same processes and systems.  They are also better able to service their stores as they leverage the depth of their combined supply chains with increased inventory visibility.
