Briggs & Stratton is the world's largest producer of air-cooled gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment. Due to organic and acquisition growth, Briggs & Stratton needed to expand its distribution capacity and capabilities.
Briggs & Stratton contracted Fortna to design and implement a new material handling system and plan capacity requirements for the B&S aftermarket service parts. The new system included storage media changes, automatic sortation and the universal warehouse control software, FortnaPlus™. Fortna also utilized its proprietary modeling tool FortnaDCmodeler to map our B&S's capacity requirements under various business scenarios.
Briggs & Stratton capitalized on improved management of parts storage, increased capacity for future acquisitions, productivity gains and an increase in overall customer services levels.
